Tone Freak Severe Distortion Pedal

SEVERE™ represents Tone Freak Effects™ answer to a heavy distortion guitar effects pedal! The SEVERE™ starts at medium gain and only gets higher from there with plenty of gain on tap. 3-way toggle up top adds different flavors of distortion with asymmetrical, symmetrical and no clipping options. The 3-way "Brite" switch changes how bright the Tone control can get, which allows you to use SEVERE™ with different styles of amps that my be darker or brighter in character.

Unlike some other heavy distortion pedals, SEVERE will never turn your tone into a compressed, mushy mess. SEVERE™ maintains a more open sound and allows string articulation of your playing to shine through. Dropped-D players will notice the low-end whump and top-end sizzle, when they hit the front end of their amp with this distortion pedal. Players looking for a stand-alone solo pedal, don't have to look any further... no stacking with other overdrive or distortion pedals is necessary with SEVERE™. Your solos will have all the sustain and drive you need the moment you hit the foot switch.

CONTROLS
Gain: Increase the gain by turning the knob clockwise. Turning the knob counter clockwise will decrease the gain.
Tone: Turing the knob clockwise will increase the high end tone. Counter clockwise will decrease the high end and increase the low end tone.
Level: To increase the output volume, turn the knob clockwise. By turning the Level control counter clockwise, you will decrease the output volume.

“Brite” Switch – The SEVERE™ has a 3 position switch that adjusts the top end of the unit to accommodate for different styles of amps.  The “Brite” switch changes the frequencies the Tone control covers.  The middle position is the brightest setting.

Power: 9V battery or a 2.1 mm center negative pin, AC-DC, 9V, 120VAC, 200 mA power adapter.

3-Way Mini-Toggle: The SEVERE™ has 3 different clipping sections. • Right position uses symmetrical clipping and has the most “amp-like” characteristic of the clipping variations. This position has the most gain and compression compared to the other two positions. • Left position engages the MOSFET clipping. You will find this position to have a little lower output volume from the Right position, so adjust your Level control to compensate. MOSFET clipping produces a more “beefy” quality compared to the other two positions. • Middle position is also called the “diode lift” position. The Left and Right positions clip the signal to create compression and added distortion, but the Middle position doesn’t, so the resulting tone is more “open” than the other two positions. NOTE: The Middle position has the highest output volume, so be careful when engaging this position.
